5 Quick Keepsake Crafts for Polaroid Photos

If you’re anything like me, you love Polaroid photos. Whether you have a stack from your childhood or recently treated yourself to an Instax camera or photo printer for all the nostalgic vibes, chances are you’ve got quite a few little snapshots lying around.

But here’s the thing, you don’t just want those keepsakes just sitting in a drawer. You want to see them. Enjoy them. Show them off. In this post, I’m sharing 5 simple craft ideas you can do to put your favorite Polaroid photos on display.

These projects are quick, meaningful, and perfect for turning your photos into something you’ll actually use.

Why Craft with Polaroid Photos?

As the world moves more and more towards digitizing media, it’s important to have memories outside of our phones as well. Don’t let your camera roll be your only archive.

Using your snapshots in DIY photo keepsakes allows you to:

  • Add personality to your home
  • Create meaningful, handmade gifts
  • Display your favorite memories in a creative way

Instead of letting your Instax photos collect dust, let’s turn them into something you can admire.

Here are five crafts you can make to show off your polaroid photos.

1. Air-Dry Clay Polaroid Stands

I love these because they’re so customizable. You can shape them into anything that matches the aesthetic of your space or create something based on your interests.

To make one:

  • Roll and mold the clay into your desired shape.
  • Create a small slit at the top to hold the photo. (I used chipboard the size of the photo to make sure it would fit exactly how I wanted.)
  • Let it dry according to the clay’s instructions.
  • Paint with acrylic paint once hardened.

There’s something so calming about shaping the clay with your hands, and these are super fun way to decorate your desk or a shelf. Plus, these simple-to-make photo stands make thoughtful handmade gifts.

2. Polaroid Greeting Cards

I love that Polaroids let us look back on special memories with our loved ones. This is why I often use them in birthday cards. It instantly transforms a basic card into a personalized handmade gift that can bring a smile to someone’s face.

You’ll need:

  • Cardstock
  • Adhesive of your choice (Tape runners are super easy to use!)
  • A Polaroid photo

The card doesn’t need to be complicated, but, feel free to add stickers or washi tape if you think it needs it (or check out our other recommendations for tools to personalize cards). This is one of those DIY photo keepsakes that feels incredibly meaningful without taking too much effort to put together. And the best part, it’s far more special than grabbing a generic card from the grocery store.

3. Fabric-Covered Frame

Take a plain frame and elevate it with fabric that matches your aesthetic. Whether you’re into florals, neutrals, gingham, or bold patterns, fabric instantly adds warmth and personality.

Here’s how to put it together:

  1. Cut fabric slightly larger than your frame backing.
  2. Wrap it smoothly around the insert.
  3. Secure with tape or glue.
  4. Place your Polaroid on top using double-sided tape.

You can keep it minimal (which I personally love), or add beads, stickers, or small embellishments. It’s one of the easiest creative ways to display Polaroids while making your decor feel uniquely yours.

4. Snow Globe Christmas Ornament

This one may be seasonal, but it’s too cute not to include it on the list. A Polaroid snow globe ornament is such a special way to preserve holiday memories and makes a beautiful handmade gift.

You’ll need:

  • A large, clear fillable ornament
  • A Polaroid photo
  • Glitter, faux snow, or confetti

Grab your favorite Polaroid photo and carefully place it inside the ornament. Some of these ornaments can be separated into 2 parts to you can easily fill them. For others you might need to gently fold the photo to be able to push it into the top of the ornament. Then add your decorative filler. Shake lightly and adjust until it looks how you want. You can customize these to match the theme of your Christmas tree. Each year when you decorate, you’ll revisit that memory all over again.

5. Mini Polaroid Memory Board

If you can’t choose a favorite photo, a memory board is perfect for you.

This is one of the best Polaroid photo craft ideas if you want something flexible and interchangeable.

You’ll need one of these as your base:

  • A cork board
  • A small wire grid
  • Or even foam board

Clip or pin your photos onto your board so you can switch them out whenever you want. This keeps your space feeling fresh while getting to showcase your favorite memories.

You can customize your board even further by covering the cork or foam board with fabric, which instantly makes it feel more polished and less like a dorm room. Check out How to Fabric Covered Bulletin Board. Try adding other little mementos too— postcards, ticket stubs, or small notes from special days. These details turn your board into a mini memory wall that tells a story.

It’s also perfect for offices or small spaces where you want to add personality without creating clutter.

Make Your Memories Visible

Crafting doesn’t have to be complicated or time-consuming to be meaningful.

These easy crafts for Polaroid photos allow you to turn your favorite moments into keepsakes that you can keep top of mind. Whether you’re making a gift, decorating your desk, or preserving holiday memories, you’re giving your photos new life.

In a world where so much stays digital, there’s something grounding about displaying your memories in a tangible way. Every time you glance at that photo stand or ornament, you’re reminded of laughter, connection, and moments that mattered.

So, pull those Polaroids out and make something with them!
